Lucia is a 23-year-old graphic design student who recently started an internship at a small marketing studio. After two weeks of learning the basics, she is given her first real project: to design the visual identity for a new local coffee shop that wants to attract young and creative clients.

Lucia is excited and works hard. She created three design proposals with modern logos, beautiful colors, and some playful icons. Her supervisor, Marcos, is impressed and presented her ideas to the client. However, the client rejected all three proposals. He said they are “too modern” and wants something “more traditional and serious.” Lucia is disappointed. She had spent a lot of time researching trends and thinking about what would be better. When she talked to Marcos, he told her, “Sometimes clients don't know what they want until they see it. We must listen and adapt.” He then asked her to make a fourth version quickly, because the client wanted something the next day.

Lucia felt frustrated. She's not sure if she should change everything or trust her original ideas. She also wonders if she is being too sensitive ori she should defend her work more. She decides tot a break and reflect.

Questions:

1.    What should Lucia do after the client rejected her designs?

Lucia should create a new design, combining the two ideas: what the client wants with the ideas she created. She should explain the specific justification for the design to Marcos so he can explain it to the client and understand the idea of the visual identity.

2.    How could she protect herself from frustration in future projects?

Lucia must understand the idea the client wants, since it is the identity of her business, and in future projects, ask what the client's specific idea is, so she has a clear idea and can develop new designs that the client may like, and have a clear and concise justification for these.

3.    Should she always change her ideas to please clients? Why or why not?

No, she must align the client's ideas with the ideas she proposes, given that, in design matters, ideas are quite ambiguous. By aligning her ideas with the client's, she can achieve a balance between the client's idea and her own, developing an identity with criterion and justification.

Q: May I use videos in my lesson?
A: Yes, you may. Videos can help students understand better.

My opinion about videos:

I am convinced that the learning process through careful online viewing of videos like those on YouTube, which have tools to remove or add closed captions, slow down or speed up both images and audio (and even provide feedback by communicating with the content creator), is the best way to learn not only languages like English, but also many other areas of knowledge.
It is a wonderful tool that allows you to:
1. Gain and reinforce new knowledge in any subject.
2. From a teaching perspective, capture students' interest and attention.
3. Stimulate their empathy, participation, and creativity.
4. Help students learn about new problems that develop their creativity to solve them.
5. Allow them to review difficult concepts repeatedly at their own pace, until they have complete mastery.
6. Explore different perspectives on the same topic, contributing to the development of critical thinking.
7. Learn about completely unknown information outside of the classroom.
8. Practice to overcome learning difficulties.
9. Socialize with greater interest about the topics discussed in the videos.
10. Develop more grounded concepts about what they've learned.
11. Challenge and debate the pre-established dogmas of popular culture.
Finally, I think videos are a powerful teaching tool that we should take full advantage of.
